Patio Installations in Somerset, Bristol & Devon
A well-built patio turns a garden into another room of the house. We install porcelain, Indian sandstone, traditional slab and resin bound patios — all on properly prepared bases with correct falls, so they stay flat, dry and beautiful.
Why people choose it
- ✓ Porcelain: precise, stain-resistant, ultra low-maintenance
- ✓ Indian sandstone: natural character, riven texture, timeless looks
- ✓ Resin bound: seamless, jointless, great for curves
- ✓ Built with correct falls — no puddles against the house
- ✓ Steps, edging and paths designed to match
Problems it solves
- → Uneven, mossy or frost-damaged old patios
- → Gardens with no proper outdoor seating or dining space
- → Patios laid on sand or spot-bedding that have rocked loose
- → Water pooling against the house wall

How we install it
Design and material choice
We talk through how you'll use the space, then help you choose between porcelain, sandstone, slabs or resin — with honest pros and cons for each, not just the most expensive option.
Groundworks
Excavation, compacted sub-base and screed, with levels set safely below the damp proof course and falls directed away from the house.
Laying
Slabs laid on a full mortar bed with primer, joints aligned and cuts kept clean and deliberate. Resin patios are trowelled seamlessly.
Finishing
Jointing, cleaning and a full tidy-up, plus aftercare guidance for your chosen material.
Ideal for
- • Family entertaining and dining areas
- • Low-maintenance gardens (porcelain and resin excel here)
- • Period properties suited to natural sandstone
- • Sloped gardens needing terracing and steps
Options & finishes
- • Porcelain in stone, slate, wood-effect and contemporary finishes
- • Indian sandstone in classic blends
- • Large-format and mixed-size laying patterns
- • Matching steps, paths, walls and edging
Aftercare
- • Porcelain: occasional wash — that's genuinely about it
- • Sandstone: seasonal clean and optional sealing to resist algae
- • Keep joints sound — we use quality jointing compounds, not brush-in sand on patios
- • Wash leaves off in autumn to prevent staining and slickness
Patios — your questions answered
Porcelain or Indian sandstone — which is better?
Porcelain is more consistent, stain-resistant and almost maintenance-free, but costs more to buy and cut. Sandstone has natural warmth and character at a lower material cost, but benefits from sealing and seasonal cleaning. Neither is 'better' — it depends on your garden, house style and how much upkeep you want.
Why do patios laid by others rock or come loose?
Usually spot-bedding — dabs of mortar under each corner instead of a full bed. Water gets underneath, freezes, and the slab works loose. We lay on full mortar beds with primer on the slab back, which is the correct method.
Can you build steps and retaining edges too?
Yes — steps, edging, low walls and paths are all part of what we do, and designing them together is how a patio ends up looking like one finished space rather than a slab rectangle.
How much does a patio cost?
It depends on size, material, access and groundworks, so we don't quote blind figures. Send photos and rough sizes on WhatsApp for a quick steer, or book a free visit for an exact written quote.
