Resin bound driveway - Highbridge
Highbridge Canyon Stone resin driveway
Completed on 11 July 2026, this Highbridge driveway was transformed from old, weed-marked concrete slabs into a Canyon Stone resin bound surface. The work included lifting and excavating the old driveway, setting contrasting block edges, installing a permeable concrete base and hand trowelling the warm Canyon Stone finish.
Project summary
- Location
- Highbridge, Somerset
- Completed
- 11 July 2026
- Existing surface
- Old concrete paving slabs
- Preparation
- Excavation and permeable concrete base
- Finish
- Canyon Stone resin bound aggregate
- Detail
- Contrasting block edging and retained channel drain
Challenges
- The original concrete slabs were aged, uneven and weed-marked, so they could not provide a suitable base for the new resin driveway.
- The compact frontage needed accurate levels between the pavement, garage-side paving, front path and existing drainage channel.
- The resin surface needed a secure retained edge and a neat transition into the surrounding paving and property threshold.
Solution
- Lifted the old concrete paving slabs and excavated the driveway footprint to expose and prepare the formation below.
- Set contrasting block edge restraints around the resin area and prepared the levels toward the retained channel drain.
- Installed and compacted a permeable concrete base to form a stable, free-draining platform for the resin bound finish.
- Mixed, laid and hand trowelled the Canyon Stone resin bound aggregate to create a consistent surface within the block border.
Why Canyon Stone resin suited this Highbridge driveway
The warm Canyon Stone blend complements the red brickwork and light paving around this Highbridge property while giving the small frontage a more consistent appearance.
Removing the old slabs allowed the base, levels and edge restraints to be rebuilt properly instead of relying on a cracked or moving surface beneath the resin.
For driveways in Highbridge and the wider Somerset area, a permeable resin bound system can provide a practical, low-maintenance finish when the preparation and drainage details are handled correctly.
