Current project update
Day one of Canberra resin surfacing in Weston-super-Mare
The photo set records this Weston-super-Mare resin bound driveway from the old tarmac and concrete through clearance, edging, drainage and the permeable concrete base installed on 3 July 2026. Resin surfacing started on 16 July 2026, with the warm natural Canberra colour blend now being laid and hand trowelled across the courtyard and access areas.

Canberra resin - day one
Canberra aggregate
Day one of surfacing begins with the warm Canberra aggregate being placed onto the prepared permeable concrete base, ready to be spread and hand finished.

Resin going down
The Canberra resin bound mix is being laid in controlled sections over the prepared area, with reinforcement mesh visible ahead of the fresh surface.

Hand trowelling
The freshly laid Canberra blend is compacted and smoothed by hand to create an even, tightly finished surface across the courtyard.

Courtyard progress
A wider view shows the first large section taking shape around the stone walls, doorway and access route as the team works across the courtyard.

Earlier preparation and base photos
Entrance driveway
The entrance run is a tired tarmac surface with moss, weeds and worn edges visible. This gives a clear before record before the surface is cleaned back and assessed for resin bound preparation.

Concrete yard
The main yard area has aged concrete with surface staining, vegetation around the edges and different levels to consider before the resin bound system is installed.

Clearance area
The rear section needs clearing and tidying before prep can begin properly. Loose debris and stored items will be moved so the existing base can be inspected across the full area.

Covers and thresholds
This area shows the sort of detailing that matters before resin bound work starts: covers, thresholds, pipework and levels all need checking so the finished surface sits cleanly and drains correctly.

Side drive
The side drive is a mix of old tarmac and concrete with moss and weeds through the surface. The preparation will focus on creating a sound, clean, stable base ready for the resin bound finish.

Driveway clearance
The worn surface has been broken out along the side of the property so loose and failed material can be removed before the new base is prepared.

Old surface lifted
This stage exposes the weak areas around the existing cover and edging. The levels can now be checked before the resin bound system is built up.

Driveway levelled
With the failed surface stripped back, the driveway run is being levelled and tidied so the base can be made consistent along the house wall and side access.

Spoil clearance
The broken-out material is being cleared from site, leaving the working area ready for the next preparation stage around the property frontage.

Kerb edging
Fresh edging has been set along the driveway run beside the boundary planting, giving the resin bound surface a clean retained edge before the base is built up.

Door threshold
The door threshold has been prepared with block edging and a level pad so the finished surface can meet the entrance cleanly.

Drainage channel
This area shows the drainage channel running alongside the property and the prepared base taking shape before the resin bound finish is installed.

Channel drain detail
The channel drain has been set across the outbuilding frontage to manage surface water before the surrounding area is finished.

Side kerb run
The side run has been edged along the hedge line, keeping the driveway shape defined and ready for the next base preparation stage.

Permeable concrete base
The permeable concrete base is now in across the courtyard, giving the resin bound finish a free-draining, stable structure rather than laying directly over the old mixed tarmac and concrete.

Main driveway base
This wide view shows the newly installed permeable concrete running along the property wall, with levels brought together around the house, boundaries and service covers before the final resin surface.

Side access base
The side access and working strip have been brought up to the same base stage, leaving the driveway ready for final checks before the resin bound layer is installed.

Fresh base close-up
A low-level view across the newly installed permeable concrete, showing the open-textured base that gives the resin bound finish a stable, free-draining platform.

Driveway entrance base
The entrance and main driveway base are now down, with levels tied into the kerb line, boundary planting and access route before the resin bound surface is installed.

Courtyard base complete
This view shows the main courtyard area after the permeable concrete was installed on 3 July 2026, ready for final checks before the resin bound finish goes down.

Side run ready for resin
The side run has been brought up cleanly between the stone edging and hedge line, leaving a consistent base ready for resin bound surfacing the week commencing 6 July 2026.
